Can you mod Derail Valley? ›

Installed mods will be in your game folder, under Derail Valley\Mods. Every so often, a new version of Unity Mod Manger is available as well. It will update itself, but you need to update Derail Valley to that version, it won't automatically/forcefully update your game.

There are 22 licenses in the game, three of which are earned after completing the tutorial. The other 19 are unlocked by purchasing them at a career manager while having no active fees.

If "Comms radio spawn mode" is turn on in the "game" submenu of options, the "Spawner" and "Cargo loader" functions are unlocked for use. The train spawner allows spawning in any car onto an appropriate section of rail.

VR or non-VR? Both. Derail Valley fully supports playing on a regular PC, using mouse and keyboard on a flat screen, but virtual reality is where it really shines.

Lighters can be purchased from shops for $150. Their main use is to ignite the firebox of steam locomotives by throwing one in, after which it will return to your inventory and can be used again. It can ignite flammable cargo leaking from damaged cars.

The key for the crew vehicle can be purchased in shops (later possibly only one shop), but you need to find the hidden garage first to unlock it. the only one I know of is the handcart you get by purchasing bobs garage key and opening said garage (located between machine factory and iron mine west).

In order to obtain the Caboose, one must purchase the Reginald's Garage Key in City Southwest, then locate Reginald's Garage and use the key on the door lock. This is also the only caboose in the game - unlocking Reginald's Garage will not cause additional cabooses to spawn.

Jobs are how the player earns money in Derail Valley, with said income being used to pay off fees and buy licenses to take more risky and lucrative jobs. Jobs come in three different varieties: Freight Hauls, Logistic Hauls, and Shunting.

Any money spent in the "Fees" section of the career manager (or in Manual Service Stations) counts towards your copay. This includes things like emissions tax, maintenance for your locomotives, cars damage or cargo damage. The copay starts at only 100$, and increases as you buy new licenses.

To unlock the slug, Steve's Garage Key is needed. It costs $20,000 to purchase and is available in a Shop in Harbor. The garage is located on the long siding off the Harbor, or the farthest South East track on the map on the end.

Where is the so60 in Derail Valley? ›

The S060 is found in small, remote stations, such as the forest stations, but also at the farm and steel mill. A shovel and a lighter are required to operate this locomotive. You can purchase these at the nearest shop.

It can be unlocked by purchasing Old Bob's Garage Key at Food Factory & Town for $30,000. The key can then be used on the lock on the door of the garage. This will unlock the garage doors, allowing you to access the BE2-260 Electric Microshunter.

A locomotive is a rail vehicle designed to move rail cars meant for the transport of freight, passengers, or other things. There are currently seven locomotives featured in Derail Valley - the DE2, DH4, DM3, S282, S060, DE6 and BE2.

The locomotive remote is purchased in the shop at Machine Factory & Town. It is used to change the controls of a locomotive from outside the locomotive's cab.

Multiplayer is a Derail Valley mod that adds multiplayer to the game, allowing you to play with your friends. It works by having one player host a game, and then other players can join that game.

You just need to... Install SMAPI. That's the mod loader for Stardew Valley — it launches the game with mod support and lets mods interact directly with the game code. It's safely installed alongside your normal game, and you can uninstall it anytime.

As long as the mod doesn't state that it's recommended to start a new game for it then it should be fine. General rule: Mods that overhaul the asethetics are always fine to install mid game and to deinstall.
