Welcome to the Rupture Barbarian Specialized Build Guide! With the introduction of The Third Blade in Season 5, Rupture lost its inherent cooldown penalty and became a pseudo-Core Fury spender, able to be spammed at will as long as it met its resource requirement.

Consequently, this allows for some fun interactions with various Uniques and Legendary Aspects. For the purpose of this guide, these include Rage of Harrogath, Fields of Crimson, Arreat's Bearing and Fists of Fate, along with the Dust-Devil conjuring Aspects, Fierce Winds and Devilish. The idea here is to spam Rupture as much as possible to constantly reset cooldowns and fill the screen with lots of big red puddles, phantasmal blue boys, and highly destructive orange swirls.

While capable of taking on pretty much everything the game has to offer, it does take some effort to get there. As mentioned previously, the setup relies on several key pieces to function correctly and can be rather demanding in the Cooldown Reduction department in order to really shine, especially on single targets. There's also a lot of buttons to press (like, all of them... pretty much all the time). This shouldn't be much of an issue though, since the amount of fun being had will typically be enough to temporarily numb the pain, maybe.

See below for the selected Paragon Boards, Paragon point allocation, and the correct Glyphs you should use for the Rupture Barbarian. Note: The Paragon Boards below are the final setup with no steps.

Season 5 - Infernal Hordes

In Season 5, the Season Theme brings your hero back into the bowels of Hell, in the Infernal Hordes endgame activity. You're first introduced to Hellbreach Dungeons, miniature Horde-like micro-dungeons that teach you the new mechanics and rewards systems. As you slay more powerful Demons and Bosses, you're rewarded with the new Reputation progression that comes with amazing rewards. These include Crafting Materials, unlocking Season's Journey tiers and even the coveted Resplendent Spark, needed to craft a mythic unique.

Follow the seasonal questline until you unlock the Reputation system, check which rewards suit you most and then follow your regular leveling path. To learn more, check out our full Season 5 guide for more information.

Gameplay

1. Spam Rupture.
2. Cast all Shouts, Iron Skin, and Call of the Ancients as soon as they are off cooldown (which is pretty much all the time).
3. Admire the visual clarity.

• Leap can replace Iron Skin for speed content.

Gear and Stat Requirements

These builds require specific Aspects, Uniques, Mythic Uniques, and Affixes on your gear to perform their primary function. Only deviate from the list below after you have fully learned the intended gameplay style and strategies.

1. Legendary Aspects:
   • Devilish and Fierce Winds:
     • These let us spawn Dust Devils with our skills. This is pretty much where all of our damage comes from.
   • Starlight:
     • Combined with Invigorating Fury, this helps us keep our Fury in a good spot before acquiring Ring of Starless Skies. Has the added benefit of providing massive amounts of healing.
   • Iron Warrior:
     • Used in pre-Mythic setups to help offset the damage reduction loss from Harlequin Crest. If more defense isn't needed, an offensive option like Conceited or Elements can be played instead.
2. Uniques:
   • Fists of Fate:
     • When rolled well, this is a great item that pairs nicely with the above-average base Lucky Hit Chance of Rupture.
   • Rage of Harrogath:
     • This is a core part of the build and the reason we want Lucky Hit Chance in the first place. This item enables our Shouts and other skills to reset their cooldowns almost instantly in most cases.
   • Fields of Crimson:
     • A big stat stick and size increase for Rupture. The Unique power here is also very important, since the pool that applies Bleed also inherits our Lucky Hit Chance. On top of that, it gives us a pretty decent 30% multiplicative damage boost.
   • Arreat's Bearing:
     • Helps give us permanent uptime on Call of the Ancients and cap our Resistances. It's important to note that the damage increase we get from Prime Call of the Ancients is not the only reason this skill is great - the Ancients themselves are no slouches! Talic can dish out decent damage with his Dust Devils, and Korlic gives us Earthquakes to activate the Rumble Glyph. And Madawc, well, he's just kinda there... helping, maybe inflicting a Stun or something.
   • Godslayer Crown and Rakanoth's Wake:
     • These are both temporarily useful before acquiring Mythics. They both have an inherent Cooldown Reduction roll, and help make up the loss from Harlequin Crest.
3. Other:
   • Most importantly, this build requires the Sandstorm Augments Tempering Recipe to really shine. The build is not really functional without it since this is where the majority of our damage comes from. At a very bare minimum, it is not recommended to play the build without first unlocking this.
